Katie Simonson is a freelance lighting designer with a deep passion for all aspects of theatrical lighting. She is currently based near Denver, Colorado, and works full-time as an electrician and programmer at the Arvada Center for the Arts and Humanities in Arvada, Colorado.

Katie recently graduated from Colorado State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Theatre Design and Technology, concentrating in lighting, along with a minor in Business Administration with a focus on Music Business. During her time at CSU, she worked on many projects which have led her to be even more excited for her future career in lighting design. Her favorite part of this field is constantly getting to work with new teams and figure out creative and cohesive solutions. Katie has been described as "a sponge" because she constantly is trying to learn as much as possible and experience every opportunity available to her.

Katie has designed lighting for a wide range of live performances, including plays, musicals, dance concerts, live music, short films, corporate events, and opera. Working across many artistic disciplines has reinforced her love for lighting design and her enthusiasm for collaborating in as many creative spaces as possible.
